🎬 What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Launching First Video Blog Over 40
Launching a video blog over 40? What could go wrong? Add two kids, two cats, two dogs, and a part-time therapy career—and suddenly, I’m running a full-time sitcom. Between tech fails, barking co-stars, and a whole lot of prayer. Launching First Video Blog over 40, should be easy... I Hope.

So, I did a thing.
I decided to launch a video blog and create digital content. Yes, I am a content creator. Because clearly, managing two kids with varying ailments, two cats, two dogs, and a life that already resembles a circus wasn’t challenging enough. Somewhere between packing school lunches, being a therapist, and trying to remember if I fed the dogs twice or not at all, I thought, “You know what this chaos needs? A camera.” There was always a running joke among my friends, husband, and me: that my life needed its own sitcom. Well, here it is, whether you find it funny or not.
And that, friends, is how my new video blog was born. (Or at least attempted to be born. There were a few false starts involving barking, meowing, and a tripod attack.)
The Glamorous Life (Said No Mom Ever)
I pictured myself sitting in a sunlit corner, teapot steaming, makeup perfect, delivering heartfelt life wisdom to the world.
Reality check: the sunlit corner turned out to have terrible lighting, the tea got cold during Take #1, and the “heartfelt wisdom” was replaced by me yelling, “Can someone please stop the kitten from chewing the cord?”
Still, I persevered. Because if I’ve learned anything as a mom, widow, therapist, and general chaos coordinator, it’s that sometimes you have to laugh, hit record, and trust that God will handle the rest.
My Bloopers Reel Is Basically a Feature Film
They say, “God laughs when we make plans.” Well, I’m pretty sure He laughed out loud when I tried to film my intro.
Take 1: I forgot to hit the record button.
Take 2: I hit record, but the camera was so close you could see my soul.
Take 3: My dog sneezed on cue, and the cat was literally hanging from my newly cleaned curtains. (I cannot make this stuff up, even if I tried.)
Take 4: I started crying because the dog sneezed, and then I laughed, and then I forgot what I was saying. Once again, no record button.
By Take 12, I stopped pretending this was going to be Pinterest-perfect and leaned into the chaos. Because let’s be honest — my life isn’t staged. It’s real, it’s messy, and it’s full of grace (and pet hair, lots of pet hair).
Trying to Be a YouTuber Over 40
I thought I was tech-savvy. I was wrong. I was ONCE tech-savvy in 1999.
Who knew “thumbnail” wasn’t just the thing on your hand? Or that “B-roll” wasn’t something you ordered at a sushi restaurant? My teenage daughter had to rescue me more than once, and my computer may or may not now contain seventeen partial video files labeled “final_final_FINAL_version.”
At one point, I caught myself whispering, “Holy Spirit, please help this upload.” Spoiler alert: It did — eventually.
How to Look Calm When Everything’s on Fire
When you watch my first video next week, you’ll see me talking calmly about rebuilding life after loss — while just out of frame, one dog is scratching the door, a cat is walking across the counter, and my youngest is asking where her other shoe went.
Motherhood and faith have taught me one important thing: peace isn’t about the absence of chaos. It’s about finding calm within it. Sometimes that calm looks like deep breathing and prayer. Other times, it resembles laughing until you cry because you accidentally filmed your entire intro upside down. My husband called me "Lucy" for a reason.
The Beauty in the Bloopers
I’ve learned that life — and content creation — isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up as you are, trusting that God can use even the messy parts.
If you’ve ever felt like your life is one long blooper reel, you’re in good company. Sometimes, the moments we think ruin the take are the ones that make the story worth telling.
So, here it is: I’m officially launching my new video blog next week! You’ll laugh, you’ll relate, and if you look closely, you might even spot a dog tail or two.
I hope you’ll join me as I talk about life, healing, faith, grief, motherhood, and all the ridiculous, beautiful moments in between.
Because honestly — what could go wrong?
Stay tuned for the launch!

And if you see me online looking polished and peaceful, just know there’s a barking soundtrack you can’t hear — and a prayer that’s holding it all together. ❤️
